We wanted to create something with a clearer Time & Tide signature. Over the past year, our buying team have designed a range of exclusive sideboards, each drawn to our specifications and available nowhere else.

From curved whitewashed mango wood and natural travertine to dramatic marble-effect pattern and hand-carved geometric detail, every design brings a different mood to the collection. Here is how the range came together, what gives each sideboard its character and how to choose the right one for your room.

Why We Designed Our Own Sideboards

Time & Tide has always been about interiors with attitude: furniture and accessories that bring personality into a room rather than simply filling a space. Creating our own sideboard designs gave us the freedom to shape every detail around that idea.

Instead of beginning with a catalogue, we started with the proportions, materials and finishes we wanted to see. We considered how the furniture would sit within a room, how natural surfaces would work alongside lighting and artwork, and which details would make each design instantly recognisable.

Our mango wood sideboards are produced by a small, family-run factory in India. Fluting, carving and finishing are completed by hand, giving the timber and surface details a depth that feels individual rather than uniform.

Small-batch production naturally creates variation. Wood grain moves differently across every cabinet, carved details carry subtle changes and whitewashed finishes settle into the timber in their own way.

Meet the Four Exclusive Sideboards

Ridged Mango Wood & Travertine Marble Pill Sideboard

The softest and most sculptural design in the range, this sideboard combines a pill-shaped silhouette with vertical fluting that continues around its curved ends. A pale whitewashed finish allows the mango wood grain to remain visible, keeping the overall look warm and textural.

Natural travertine completes the design. Softer and warmer in appearance than polished white marble, the stone carries tonal movement and natural markings that vary from one top to another.

Black Marble Handle Mango Wood Sideboard

This design takes the same tactile approach in a warmer, more dramatic direction. Natural mango wood brings rich tonal variation to the cabinet, while fine vertical reeding creates texture across both doors.

Two oversized discs of black marble sit boldly against the ridged frontage, echoing the black marble top above. Their smooth, sculptural form contrasts beautifully with the precise vertical detailing behind them.

At H79 × L175.5 × W46cm and 109.1kg, this is the heaviest sideboard in the collection and has a reassuringly substantial presence. Iron Marble Pattern 4 Door Sideboard

For unapologetic impact, this is the statement piece of the collection. Its full 200cm width is covered in a sweeping black marble-effect pattern, threaded with gold veining and warm rust-orange undertones.

Four handleless doors allow the pattern to flow across the entire frontage without interruption. Beneath the cabinet, a slim gold-toned metal frame introduces a refined metallic contrast and helps balance its generous proportions.

Measuring H82 × L200 × W48cm, it is designed to command a long dining-room wall, living area or open-plan space. Deep wall colours will heighten the drama, while a paler scheme allows the black and gold pattern to become the clear focus

Washed Mango Wood Geometric Doors Sideboard

This hand-carved design brings pattern into the room through texture rather than bold colour. An abstract geometric relief travels across three doors, bringing together interlocking arcs and angular forms in an expressive composition.

The whitewashed finish settles into the carved recesses while allowing the mango wood grain to remain visible across the raised surfaces. Delicate brass-effect handles and tapered legs introduce warmth and keep the silhouette feeling light.

At H87 × L175 × W46cm, it is the tallest sideboard in the exclusive range. It is also the lightest at 54kg, although it remains a substantial item of furniture. How to Choose the Right Sideboard for Your Room

Begin with the wall and the surrounding furniture. Our exclusive sideboards range from 175cm to 200cm wide, so mark the dimensions on the ground with masking table if you want to be sure about the fitting before ordering, allowing enough clear space around the cabinet for its silhouette to register.

Height matters too, particularly when placing a sideboard beneath a window, mirror or artwork. The range spans 77.5cm to 87cm tall. Check the position of window sills and existing wall fittings, then consider how much space you want above the surface for lighting and decorative objects.

Depths range from 46cm to 48cm. This is especially important in hallways and areas close to dining tables, where the remaining walking space needs to feel comfortable. The complete delivery route should also be measured, including doorways, corners, stairwells and landings.

When it comes to colour, contrast can often feel more considered than attempting an exact match. Pale whitewashed furniture can create a beautiful break against darker timber, while warm mango wood brings richness to cooler grey, cream or stone-coloured interiors.

Finally, decide whether you want the sideboard to lead the room or support the wider scheme. The 200cm marble-effect design immediately becomes a focal point. A neutral fluted or carved sideboard gives artwork, lighting and collected accessories more room to take the lead.

What Makes Furniture Feel Luxurious?

Styling Your New Sideboard

A pair of table lamps creates an immediate sense of balance across a long surface, while warm lamplight brings out the depth of reeded, carved and natural wood finishes. Above the sideboard, choose a mirror or piece of wall art that feels proportionate to the furniture below. Around two-thirds of the sideboard’s width can provide a useful starting point, although an oversized artwork can also work beautifully when the surrounding wall is kept simple. Vary the height and shape of the objects on the surface. Combine a tall vase with a lower bowl and one sculptural ornament, leaving sections of the top visible between them. This breathing room is particularly important with travertine and marble. The surface is one of the defining materials, so allow its natural pattern and colour to remain part of the display.
