Create a Sustainable Home

We’re keen to be green, and due the rising popularity of sustainable conscious furniture we’ve put together a list of eco-friendly materials and furniture to aid you in your sustainable furniture decisions. Essentially, at the centre of sustainability is the creation of items that are eco-friendly and better for the environment. This has become one of the biggest home interior trends of the moment but rather than it being just a passing fad we hope it can be integrated into our lives further as an ongoing lifestyle choice that will help towards protecting our planet for decades to come.

Bamboo

Bamboo is one of the most sustainable materials to make furniture from. Bamboo can grow up to a meter a day, taking just 1-5 years to fully regenerate and harvest, a new shoot can be grown from an existing root. Compare this with an oak tree that takes 20 years to mature. Bamboo is also great for reducing CO2 levels as it absorbs 4x as much CO2 than a rainforest, helping cut down carbon emissions. In addition to all this good stuff bamboo makes fantastic looking furniture, natural bamboo items are strong long-lasting and come in exquisite varieties and styles.

Glass

As we all know glass is a fully recyclable material, making it a sustainable choice that offers great environmental benefits such as contributing to reducing climate change from not polluting the environment and protecting precious natural resources. Glass can be recycled again and again and can be repurposed by just melting and remould it into something new. This green eco-friendly material is versatile, bright, and impressive. So what’s not to love, glass generates minimal negative environmental impact and creates beautiful interior décor and furniture.

Salvaged Wood

Reclaimed furniture mainly refers to wood that had a previous purpose and use. The act of repurposing and turning these materials into new items mean that each piece of reclaimed furniture is rare and different from most of the wood furniture you can buy in stores. The exterior surface of reclaimed wood is naturally aged and weathered for a totally unique texture and look that cannot be duplicated on new wood furniture. All this while reducing the harmful impact of deforestation makes reclaimed furniture a winner.

Greener Living

The biggest advantages of reclaimed wood furniture are of course its environmental benefits. Not only does it reduce the number of trees needed for producing furniture, repurposing old wood decreases the amount of wood that may have otherwise been burned or put into landfill. Signs of a previous life give reclaimed wood a certain charm that you can’t manufacture. The unique look of old wood adds bags of character into your interior. Plus, each item has its own history and truly unique story of where it came from for you to re-home and love.

Recycled, Repurposed, Reloved

Clean Plastic

Plastic is recognised worldwide as one of the biggest polluters of our planet. It is quite literally everywhere, and thanks to its durable design, it’s not disappearing anytime soon. The eye-opening negative impact of plastic on the environment has create a surge of innovative interior designers that are determined to turn all this around. Stylish pieces of furniture and home accessories made from plastic waste cleansed from the ocean, landfills, and nature reserves to repurpose and recycle plastic into amazing new creations for your home. Reducing pollution across ecosystems whilst decking out your home in style, what’s not to love?

Cork

Décor made from cork not only looks amazing, its mega eco-friendly too. Cork is one of the most sustainable materials in the world. Due to its sustainability, longevity and versatility use of cork has become quite the contemporary home interior trend. Stylish and functional, these items are also renewable and biodegradable, harvested without damaging the tree it is taken from, creating a plentiful and sustainable resource.
